It’s holiday time! It might be wet and wild in the UK, but that’s nothing to how wet and wild it’s going to be in the pool in Ibiza.
Ibiza is known for its nightlife and club scene, as well as a summer climate that ensures everyone goes home looking bronzed and beautiful. With the summer temperature rarely dropping below 20C, packing light is easy, but to give you a helping hand we’ve compiled a checklist to make sure you don’t forget something important:
Vests and T-shirts
With blistering daytime heat in Ibiza, vests are ideal for sightseeing, covering up a bit without making you feel too hot and sweaty – so make sure you pack plenty. If the fitted look of a vest isn’t for you, then T-shirts are perfectly acceptable, just be careful not to end up with dodgy tan lines! Ibiza isn’t the place for being shy so make sure you’ve got some trendy statement tops in your suitcase to help you stand out from the crowd.
Shirts
You can go a long way with a quality T-shirt, but a summery shirt can be a life-saver. Choose lightweight cotton, as linen tends to look creased very quickly, in a loose fit to look smart without over-heating.
Shorts
Those legs are going to be on display so make sure you frame them well. Chino shorts are ideal for night-time and allow you to look a little dressier for the more discerning clubs. A couple of pairs of lighter-weight casual shorts will help you look, and feel, cool during the day.
Footwear
A couple of pairs of trainers and a pair of sliders for around the pool will be plenty here. Choose a pair of comfy trainers for the daytime and go all out on the style for your evening clubbing. Don’t forget socks – choose “invisible” trainer liners for style – but no one wants to share a hotel room with trainers that have been worn in the heat barefoot.
Sun protection
It’s hot and sunny in Ibiza – that’s why you’re headed there – so make sure you take plenty of suncream. The “boiled lobster” look might be traditional, but it’s not good for your skin and it’s really not a look that is going to get you much luck on the dancefloor (plus, sunburn hurts).
Your eyes are also at risk of damage, so choose good quality sunglasses. Designer ones will really bring your look together and will provide great UV protection, while packing a cap to protect your delicate scalp is always a good idea. You’ll look great, and your unburnt head will thank you later.
Swimwear
Looking good around the pool is a sure-fire way to hit it off with that special someone, so make sure your swimwear is on point. Swim shorts are an ideal choice. They can be packed tightly into your suitcase, so you can take several pairs, and typically come in a variety of designs so you can be sure to create your own poolside statement look this summer.
A beach towel is another swim essential. Make sure it’s generously sized and choose one that is likely to stand out against a sea of brightly coloured beach towels, and you’ll always be able to find the lounger you bagged. If space is getting tight, a Turkish Hammam towel or microfibre towel is an option – both pack away small and dry quickly.
