How To Boost Hydration and Balance Your Electrolyte Levels

Every single one of us has been told we have to drink unbelievable amounts of water every day to stay sufficiently hydrated. It’s no secret that drinking enough water and maintaining a healthy diet does wonders for your bodily health, as well as your mental health. With that said, the thought of downing several litres of water a day is a bit daunting!

Luckily, there are some easy and delicious ways to boost hydration and balance your electrolyte levels… Ways that you might not know about Let’s start with the basics:

Maintain a Balanced Diet

Of course, you should try to eat healthy and balanced meals whenever possible. Fruits and vegetables contain lots of water, as well as vital vitamins and minerals for your body. Foods that are rich in electrolytes, in particular, include bananas, Greek yoghurt, nuts, avocados, and spinach.

Try to eat every colour of the rainbow, every day, when possible. This is a quick and easy way to make sure you’re eating a somewhat balanced diet!

Stop Over-Salting

Yes, we love salt. Yes, it makes a lot of foods taste superb. Yes, salt does actually help your body to absorb moisture! The problem is, you’re more likely to be oversalting your food than under. Try to be mindful of how much salt you add to your food – always taste before you add more. Additionally, keep in mind how often you eat take out, as there’s likely to be way more salt in that than you expect.

Match Your Fluids to Your Exercise

A good way to manage your hydration and electrolytes is to match the amount of water you drink to the level of activity you’re engaging in. Similarly, if you’re being active outdoors during the hottest hours of the day, you’re going to need a lot more hydration to replenish your body.

Try a Carb-Free Superfood

There’s a secret weapon to boost your hydration and balance your electrolyte levels. It’s called chicken broth. Crazy, right? Good old chicken broth, also known as bone broth, is a great way to consume lots of water, vitamins, and minerals without taking in any additional carbohydrates or artificial sugars and colourants!

Chicken stock is packed with protein, great for hydration, gut health, and the immune system! It might just be the secret weapon you’ve been waiting for.

What do you think about these tips to boost hydration? Which one will you be trying? Getting the water, electrolytes and minerals you need to do your best every day doesn’t have to be a hard slog. You’ve got this!
